Case Study: Team reconnection session Access Therapy Services [now Apricus Health]
After a period of signficant changes due to COVID-19 and staffing changes, the team at Access Therapy Services were keen to get together to reconnect with each other, get to know new staff members, strengthen the team's culture, and agree on team values and behaviours.
Before the meeting, Renée discussed the goals of the day with Access Therapy's director, to ensure there was a clear understanding of what the team wanted to achieve from the day. Renée provided a detailed agenda and process beforehand, to ensure Access Therapy Services was comfortable with the proposed approach. Over 10 staff members attended the team reconnection session. They learned about individual working styles, and how this impacts communication and teamwork. They discussed what the Access Therapy organisational values meant to them in their individual role, and talked about what they did well as a team and what they would like to change. Renée provided the team with an overview of different working styles, and led the group through hands-on activities and discussions, keeping them on track and ensuring everyone's voice was heard. Renée followed up with a written record after the session, for the team to use as an action plan going forward.
