About Renée

Renée Madsen
Principal Consultant
Renée has spent 20 years in program evaluation and performance auditing, with extensive experience in the not-for-profit and government sectors. She’s a warm, clear communicator who brings out the best in people, no matter their role or background.
Renée has a proven track record in designing and facilitating effective meetings. Her skills are backed by high level qualifications, including an Advanced Diploma of Group Facilitation – Australia’s highest tertiary-accredited qualification in this field. Renée is also a Certificate IV qualified trainer and holds an internationally-recognised Certificate in Community Engagement. Her Bachelor degree was in Environmental Studies from James Cook University.

Renée is a proud born and bred North Queenslander who knows the region, the industries, the people and the culture.   • Multi-year program evaluation framework and stakeholder consultation for the Burdekin element of the Queensland Government’s $33 million Major Integrated Project design phase and $15 million implementation phase Landholders Driving Change.
  • Community consultation forums and foundation of an evaluation framework for the Burdekin Dry Tropics Natural Resource Management Plan.
  • Monitoring and evaluation plan for an $8 million segment of the Australian Government's Reef Integrated Monitoring and Reporting Program (RIMReP).
  • Initiation of a ‘data dictionary’ to improve performance information for the Australian Government's $200 million Reef Rescue Programme 2008-13.
  • Evaluation of complex community programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.
  • Performance audit experience at the federal and state government level: the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) and Queensland Audit Office (QAO).
  • Recipient of the ANAO Auditor-General’s Outstanding Achievement Award for professional conduct and client service.
  • Extensive experience in program evaluation, corporate governance and stakeholder engagement in the not-for-profit sector, including senior management experience.
  • Presentation at the 2017 Australasian Evaluation Society International Conference on a process Renée developed for staff-led evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Successful grant and tender writing for small community grants through to million-dollar government tenders.
